Nebraska football is continuing to pick up momentum on the recruiting trail in the month of June. Another Crystal ball that was put in their favor, as 2024 three-star wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. had another one in favor of Nebraska. The prediction itself was put in by Brian Christopherson, who put the prediction in with a medium confidence score of six.
Barney is the 39th overall wide receiver in the 2024 class, and the 67th overall player in his class from the state of Florida per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Barney’s recruitment with Nebraska has moved quickly over the past couple of weeks. The first Crystal Ball was put in for him on May 9, and Nebraska coaches have been in contact with him frequently.
He recorded 37 catches for 559 yards, and four touchdowns last season. He measures in 6 feet, 160 pounds.
What does this mean for Nebraska football?
This latest Crystal Ball is particularly notable for a couple of reasons. For one, Barney is set to visit Nebraska football beginning on June 2. One has to wonder if a commitment will take place over the course of this weekend, especially with the prediction recently put in. Secondly, a potential commitment would give Nebraska yet another body in the wide receiver room. Barney is speedy, just like many of the other names in the wide receiver room. He fits the offensive theme of what this program wants to do.
Currently, the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 30th overall nationally per the 247Sports Team Rankings. Nebraska is in line for a big month, so that ranking could fluctuate upwards, depending on who commits. Either way, this would be a very productive recruiting month, and one that Nebraska football needs to capitalize on.
Time will tell how the rest of this approval plays out. With that being said, Nebraska football is in a good spot for Barney. It’s encouraging to see them make progress in the state of Florida, and plant a proverbial stake in Miami Palmetto.
