Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

There are still some big fish out there in the 2027 recruiting class for Nebraska football, namely five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson.

Hudson told Rivals that despite being committed to LSU, he’s not shutting down his recruitment. That was important. Hudson could have slammed the door shut on the Huskers but he said he was going to do the best thing for him.

At any rate, there’s a strong chance the next commitment for Nebraska football comes from the 2028 class. Three-star quarterback Jaxson Carper is a name to know. He’s ranked in the top 400 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He visited last month, and has the Huskers among his top contenders with Arizona, UCLA, and Iowa.

Tim Verghese of Inside Nebraska reports that Noel Washington, a four-star running back from California, as well as Marquece Sharpe, a three-star running back from Virginia, are also targets to know, as well as 2030 Omaha Central wideout Camden Berry. All those recruits visited this spring, along with four-star tight end Izzy Johnigan out of Kansas City.

Rhonda Revelle signs contract extension

Nebraska AD Troy Dannen continues to be proactive in terms of locking up head coaches long-term. Rhonda Revelle, the Huskers softball head coach, just signed a new deal to stay with Nebraska through the 2031 season.

Matt Rhule, Fred Hoiberg, Mark Manning, Revelle, Will Bolt and Amy Williams have each been extended in recent years. It’s hard to find good coaches, and the Huskers have a quality head coach in the seven major team sports.

Good on Dannen for keeping them all in Lincoln.

Former Husker Max Anderson was named to the Major League Futures All-Star Game. Anderson is slashing .303/.349/.502 with nine home runs, 13 doubles, and 32 RBI for Triple-A Toledo. He is the sixth former Husker to play in the Futures Game, joining Brice Matthews, who played in 2025.

In case you missed it, we broke down five position battles heading into fall camp. We also had some thoughts on Khalil Taylor earlier this week, and why he is Nebraska football’s most important commitment outside of Trae Taylor.
