Now that the dead period is over, Nebraska football is ready to get to work on the recruiting trail and hosted Carter Nelson for a visit.

Even though it’s been a recruiting dead period, Nebraska football has been busy on the recruiting trail. Coaches are still able to contact recruits electronically and the Huskers landed a commitment during the dead period, as well as set up a bunch of top targets for visits.

Nebraska football got a dead-period visit from five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola last weekend. He got a standing ovation at the basketball game and is set to visit again at the end of March. Carter Nelson, another priority target, also took a surprise visit and took in the facilities on Thursday according to Husker Online.

This is huge for a bunch of reasons. Nelson is supposed to visit again on Friday but as I wrote recently, Nelson is right on par with Dylan Raiola in terms of importance. He’s the top-ranked recruit in Nebraska for the 2024 class and could be a game-changing tight end for Raiola to throw the ball to.

At any rate, managing editor Danny Jaillet and I break down what the visit means for Nebraska football and much more in our latest podcast episode.

Beyond that, we offer some additional thoughts on the Nebraska basketball team, which has another important game against Iowa. The Huskers are 15-15 and need a win on Saturday if they are going to have any chance of making the NIT. It would also be great to sweep the Hawkeyes.

Of course, we talk about the latest Dylan Raiola news, and here is the full episode.
