Nebraska football is set to have a busy month of June, and they have a visit scheduled with 2024 tight Eric Ingwerson. He is scheduled to take an official visit on June 16, per his On3 profile.

Ingwerson is currently committed to Pittsburgh, having done so on March 21.

The tight end is the 155th overall athlete in the 2024 class, and the 11th overall player and his class from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports Rankings. He has been able to move up a little bit over the past couple of months in terms of rankings. He was bumped up from an 83 to an 84 numerical ranking on April 26.

Ingwerson is from Papillion, Nebraska. He played high school football for Papillion-La Vista and played both the tight end and defensive line positions. He is being recruited by both tight ends coach Bob Wager and special teams coach Ed Foley. This makes me think that he will primarily be at tight end.

Ingwerson has the size to be an impactful playmaker at tight end. He measures in at six-foot-seven, 245 pounds. Nebraska football could use another tight end for the future, as development will be important at the position.

What does this mean for Nebraska Football?

Thomas Fidone and Arik Gilbert are both sophomores. It’s not as though Nebraska football needs at tight and due to any potential graduations. With that being said, fortifying the position is extremely important.

Even with the crowded room, Nebraska football would be wise to really hone in on Ingwerson. Injuries at the position have been a problem for the program in recent years. From a football standpoint, this offense is going to be physical. Having multiple tight ends in the program and developing will be important for the future.

Time will tell if Nebraska football will be able to land Ingwerson. Nevertheless, it’s clear that they want to make a strong impression on the tight end. An official visit certainly holds a lot more weight, and they seem to have moved relatively quickly in terms of making contact with him.
