Nebraska football was able to land three-star defensive end Jordan Ochoa on Thursday. He made the announcement on X.

Ochoa measures in at six-foot-four, 225 pounds. He comes from Colorado. Ochoa received four offers in total during his recruitment. Wyoming, Florida A&M, Jackson State, and Washington all extended an offer his way. He committed to Wyoming on April 29, but decommitted on September 26 of last year.

Ochoa is a really interesting player in the sense that he specializes as an edge rusher. He uses his size to move past defenders quickly, and make tackles. He is also able to move offensive lines quickly, which creates less of a pocket for the quarterbacks. This in turn creates disruption and an offensive backfield, which is something that Nebraska football is going to need a lot of moving forward.

The 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class is strong

Currently, the 2024 Nebraska for recruiting class that is a bunch of hybrid linebackers that could double as edge rushers. Vincent Shavers, Braylen Prude, and Stefon Thompson are all names that come to mind. Ochoa certainly fits in that group as well.

The recruiting class itself ranks 18th overall nationally per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

This is by no means a major commitment. However, it does offer depth at a position where Nebraska football could desperately use some. The program has done a nice job lately of filling in holes. They’ve done a lot of work via the transfer portal in that regard. This commitment certainly adds to it as well.

Nebraska football has managed to finish very strong in recruiting this class. Here’s to hoping it  all comes together on the field.
