Nebraska football appears to be in good shape for another recruit, as 2024 three-star defensive lineman Keona Wilhite received a Crystal Ball prediction by Bryan Munson in favor of the Huskers most recently, as well as others.

Wilhite had an 88 overall numerical rating during his recruiting process. 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins predicted Wilhite would go to UCLA on January 30. However, the edge defender received four Crystal Ball predictions on Saturday from 247Sports, in addition to the prediction from Munson.

Wilhite was originally committed to Washington, but decommitted following the departure of coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama.

On top of this, the Nebraska football coaching staff may have given some clues for a potential commitment. Both defensive line coach Terrence Knighton and defensive coordinator Tony White tweeted GIFS early on Saturday afternoon, suggesting a potential commitment.

This would certainly be a big get for Nebraska football. For one, they have really focused on getting  defenders in the cycle. They most recently landed three-star edge defender Jordan Ochoa back in January.

What would this mean for Nebraska football?

A commitment from Wilhite would give Nebraska football additional depth on the defensive line. They have two studs that the position right now in Ty Robinson and Nash Hutmacher. Now, it’s going to be about building for the future at the position. Wilhite could certainly help accomplish that goal. The huskers have done a good job of building depth at several positions. The defensive side of football is no exception.

Currently, the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class has six transfers in it. The transfer portion of the class ranks 49th overall in the country per the 247Sports Team Rankings. All things considered, that isn’t a bad place to be at. The Huskers used the transfer portal this cycle as a way to fill gaps and positions of need. Defensive line depth is important, and Wilhite would certainly add to it in a positive way. Wilhite would undoubtedly be a building block for the future. He would give Nebraska a good starting off point in the post-Robinson\Hutmacher era.

It will be interesting to see what happens, and if\when his commitment to Nebraska is announced. So far, it seems like things are trending in the right direction. It just goes to show that this coaching staff never stops recruiting.
