Nebraska football suffered a heartbreaking loss to Indiana on Saturday. The Huskers squandered an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, allowing 75-yard and 41-yard touchdowns to Nick Marsh.
As disappointing as that was, Nebraska outplayed the defending national champions for most of the game. The ESPN FPI moved the Huskers up to No. 12 after the loss.
The FPI is based on computer rankings. Computers judge every play or every game, not just the final score, and by that metric, Nebraska football is the No. 12 team in college football.
Of course, that doesn’t mean anything. Winning is the only thing that matters. This program is past moral victories. Matt Rhule said as much.
Oregon isn’t ranked anymore after the loss to UCLA, but the Ducks are a talented team, still capable of making the College Football Playoff. Oregon needs to win out. The Huskers could put themselves into the mix with a win over Oregon, as well as victories over Washington, Rutgers, and Illinois.
It starts on Saturday night in Eugene. Nebraska football will have to play at 10 PM CST. The game will kick off at 8 PM in Oregon on Fox. That’s a challenge for the Huskers, who have opened as a 7.5-point underdog.
4-star EDGE eyes flip to Nebraska after Indiana game
Chance Archangel, a four-star EDGE ranked No. 270 overall in the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals, told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals that the Huskers gave him “a lot to think about.”
Archangel, 6-foot-3, 230, said he was impressed with the defense and the atmosphere. He said another visit to Lincoln is possible, but also said his commitment to Texas A&M was “solid.”
It’s hard to read how serious this is, but if the commitment was solid, would he be taking a visit? Nebraska football could use more EDGE talent, and Archanegel would be a good place to start.
Harper Murray leads Nebraska to a dominating win
There was a time this season when Harper Murray was struggling to kill the ball. Thankfully, that has come and gone.
In a top-10 matchup on national TV, Murray reminded everyone why she’s known as a superstar, scoring a match-high 20 kills against the Badgers while hitting .471. That’s elite with a capital E.
It’s really encouraging for the Huskers, too. Andi Jackson is coming off consecutive Big Ten Player of the Week Awards. Murray is starting to fire on all cylinders, and Bergen Reilly has consistently been the best setter in the sport. Reilly had 39 assists as Nebraska volleyball hit .396 as a team.
The three-set (25-23, 25-14, 25-20) sweep improved Nebraska to 17-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Big Ten as the Huskers seek a fourth consecutive Big Ten title.
