Nebraska football fans have been waiting for the commitment of Khalil Taylor for what feels like weeks, but it’s finally expected to come on Monday.

There are two announcements to watch for Nebraska football fans. Taylor, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound wideout from Pennsylvania (No. 82 overall), will announce his commitment, with Penn State, Colorado, and Alabama chasing the Huskers, who are the favorite to land the elite pass catcher.

Khalil Taylor will pair perfectly with five-star QB commit Trae Taylor. Three-star-cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, out of Orlando, Florida, is also announcing his commitment on Monday. Florida is expected to win out there. Nebraska has made a strong push, but it feels like this is one where secondary coach Addison Williams will fall short, despite a stellar effort.

If Taylor does commit, that would push the class to 22 commitments — 10 of them ranked as blue chips (4-star recruits or better). Nebraska is currently ranked 17th in the 247 Sports team composite rankings.

Matt Rhule is excited about a certain aspect of the Nebraska football QB room

Matt Rhule did an interview with the Omaha World-Herald over the weekend, where he talked specifically about the quarterbacks. He told Sam McKeon that one thing about Anthony Colandrea that excites Rhule is his ability to create plays, while also playing within the offense, sort of a shot at Dylan Raiola, who was not a mobile quarterback.

“The great thing that Anthony brings — the same thing TJ brings as well — you saw it in the Penn State game — the ability to scramble from the 20-yard line and run the ball in. The ability to extend the play and make an off-schedule play. Do that, while at the same time, playing within the scheme,” Rhule said.

It was interesting that Rhule mentioned both quarterbacks. Colandrea was paid over $1 million in the transfer portal to sign with Nebraska, so he’s expected to start.

The article also talked about how Colandrea needed to stay on the “right side of toxic,” which is a nod to the 29 interceptions Colandrea has thrown over the past three seasons.
