Nebraska football does not appear to be done with recruits in this cycle, as they are showing interest in another Texas athlete. 2024 athlete Derek McFall has the Huskers on his radar.
McFall is the 25th overall athlete in the 2024 class. He is also the 48th overall player in his class from the state of Texas per the 247 sports rankings. The site has given the four-star athlete a 90 overall numerical grade.
There is a ton of interest in his recruitment. He has 24 offers in total. Right now, there are some programs that look to be in the lead as far as his recruitment is concerned. Louisville and Alabama remain the top two. Florida, TCU, and Texas are the others.
Simply put, Nebraska football is going to have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to land him. However, he does want to take a visit to Lincoln later this month, according to a report from Mike Schaefer of Husker247.
What could he bring to Nebraska football?
McFall would bring a tremendous amount of speed to the Nebraska offense. He played in the backfield for much of his high school career. He is on the smaller side at 5-10, 175 pounds. Nevertheless, he can turn on the jets in a hurry. Vision is one of the strongest aspects of his game, and he uses it to take off and make things happen as soon as he touches the football.
The Nebraska football offense wants to add as much speed as possible. McFall would be able to help the Huskers in that regard. His ability to run east to west and burst quickly out of the backfield would help Nebraska immediately.
Currently, the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 16th overall in the country per the 24Sports Team rankings. They have 23 commitments in the class. The 2024 class figures to be one of the bigger ones for the program. Nebraska reportedly wants to add a couple more names as well.
At the end of the day, it’s very clear that they want to add playmakers. McFall would be a nice get, and yet another player from the state of Texas. There is a plan in place with this class, and Matt Rhule and his coaching staff are following the blueprint closely.
