Husker Big Red Daily: Quinn Clark’s rise at Nebraska, concern about a 2027 commit? Plus volleyball match day

There might be three starting wide receivers listed on the Nebraska football depth chart ahead of the Ohio game, but the Huskers have four starters.

Joining Nyziah Hunter, Jacory Barney, and Kwazi Gilmer as essentially a starting-caliber player is Quinn Clark, the 6-foot-5 receiver from Montana who earned his way into the top four.

Nebraska football OC Dana Holgorsen said that Clark has gone “miles” in his development since he joined the program, especially in the last eight months. Clark caught five passes for 131 yards last season, but managed three receptions of more than 31 yards and scored a touchdown.

On Tuesday, even though Clark isn’t listed as a starter, Holgorsen said the junior would play as much as any of the other wideouts. “There ain’t a lot of places where he wouldn’t start.”

Should Nebraska fooball be worried about a 2027 commitment?

We have heard for the past month or so that teams were going to make a run at four-star offensive tackle commitment Timi Aliu. The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder is ranked No. 292 overall in the 2027 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Aliu has been vocal about trying to flip five-star Ahmad Hudson. He’s been active on social media promoting the Huskers, but took a gameday visit to Florida State last weekend. It seemed innocent enough, but Aliu did say “we” when he was evaluating the play of the FSU offensive line.

“I think we played well! I know there was some miscommunication across the line, but it’s nothing practice can’t fix,” Aliu said. “So nobody’s worried.”

Aliu said he was 100 percent committed before the visit. I’m not overly concerned after. Nebraska football recruiting reporter Bryan Munson of Husker Online put his concern level at 3/10 after the fact.

It still feels more likely that the Huskers flip Hudson than it is for them to lose any of their 2027 commitments, although in recruiting, you can never say never.

Nebraska volleyball match day

After sweeping No. 2 Texas on Sunday, the top-ranked Nebraska volleyball team will be back on the road, in Brookings, South Dakota, to take on South Dakota State.

The Jackrabbits are 1-2 on the season but were undefeated in the Summit League last season. Bergen Reilly was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week this week, and she will lead a Nebraska offense that features weapons all over the place with Harper Murray, Andi Jackson, Virginia Adriano, Teraya Singler, and Mania Ogbechie.

This will be the first of three matches this week. Nebraska will play DePaul in Chicago on Friday, followed by a match against Missouri on Sunday at Wrigley Field. The start time for South Dakota State is 7 PM. It can be listened to on Huskers.com for free or streamed on Midco Sports Plus.
