The Nebraska football season is one week away. Head coach Matt Rhule will release the team’s first depth chart soon, and the single-digit numbers will also be announced.

There’s a good chance it will even happen this weekend. Maybe even today. In the latest episode of our podcast, “Big Red Banter,” we predicted who the 10 single-digit numbers will belong to.

Here’s the list.

Predicting Nebraska football single-digit numbers

Jacory Barney, Riley Van Poppel, Vincent Shavers, Janiran Bonner, Owen Chambliss, Cameron Lenhardt, Luke Lindenmeyer, Andrew Marshall, Nyziah Hunter, and Donovan Jones.

The numbers are handed out for more than just on-field performance. But each of these players will have key roles to play. Offensive linemen also can’t wear single-digit numbers. They have been a single-digit honoree, but Justin Evans and Elijah Prichett can’t actually wear a single digit like a defensive lineman.

Anthony Colandrea is another who could wear a single digit. I’m not sure that he would want to change his number, though, so that’s the prediction for Nebraska football single-digit numbers.

It has been a yearly tradition under head coach Matt Rhule. It highlights players who have shown things on the field, but as leaders as well. Chambliss is the one newcomer we have projected to make the list.

Everyone else is a returning player. That’s about what you would expect. The official announcement could come at any time, and the most important thing is that game week is one week away.
