Nebraska football has put together a stellar 2027 recruiting class under head coach Matt Rhule.

The Class has 22 commitments. 10 of those players are considered blue-chip prospects, and the Huskers are 16th in the 247 Sports team rankings.

It’s the best class the Huskers have put together since Bill Callahan was the head coach over 20 years ago. Trae Taylor, a five-star quarterback, actually the No. 1 quarterback in the 247 Sports composite rankings, is expected to sign with Nebraska.

The Huskers have four top-100 commitments and could be adding another five-star prospect to the class if they are able to complete the flip of five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson (No. 19 overall).

Nebraska football flip of Ahmad Hudson could happen soon

Steve Wiltfong, a national recruiting analyst for Rivals, hinted that things are trending in the Huskers’ way in his latest article titled “Nebraska’s 2027 class is loaded, No. 2 TE could make it elite.”

There haven’t been any predictions for Hudson to flip. It feels like there is positive momentum on the side of Nebraska football, though.

Wiltfong hinted that a decision, one way or another, could reach a “finality in the next couple of weeks.” The national recruiting analyst also said it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Huskers were able to pull off the flip of the 6-foot-5, 240-pound tight end, who doubles as a basketball standout.

Fred Hoiberg has offered him a scholarship to play on the Nebraska basketball team, too. That has been a key selling point for the Huskers. Five-star QB Trae Taylor has been working hard on him, too.

There was a report recently that Hudson would visit Nebraska in the fall, maybe more than once. It has also been reported that Hudson feels like Nebraska is recruiting him harder than LSU.

Wiltfong notes that there is contact on a regular basis between Hudson and LSU. No one is giving up this recruiting battle without a fight.

Yet, it feels like Nebraska could be closing in on a commitment, a flip that could take a good class and make it great.
