Nebraska football is in a strong position to flip five-star quarterback Ahmad Hudson thanks to the efforts of Matt Rhule.

Nebraska football fans might not believe that the Huskers are going to flip five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson until it actually happens, but it seems there are more and more signs that a flip is coming.

There were a couple more this week.

Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule did an interview with Pardon My Take. He said the Huskers were going to sign a “top 10 class.” Nebraska is currently ranked 16th via the 247 Sports composite rankings, which makes you wonder if Rhule knows something we don’t about the recruitment of Hudson.

It has also been reported that Hudson will visit Nebraska this fall. In a new interview with Inside Nebraska, Hudson said he expects to be in Lincoln twice this fall. He also offered up an eye-opening statement on where things stand between Nebraska and LSU heading into the fall.

“The program you wouldn’t expect to be doing their job to try and get me to come there is doing what they need to do. The program you most expect it from is not doing what they need to do,” Hudson said to Tim Verghese.

Nebraska football has momentum with Ahmad Hudson

That seems notable. Hudson had a great relationship with Trae Taylor, the Huskers’ five-star quarterback commitment, plus Hudson is in a group chat with Nebraska’s 2027 commitments. That was another revelation from Verghese.

None of this means that the Huskers are going to get Hudson. Added together, it feels like Nebraska does have momentum. With signing day still a few months away, that only means so much right now.

However, if Rhule can get Hudson back to campus and get him around Fred Hoiberg two more times, it feels like the Huskers will be able to get the 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end to sign on the dotted line. It has always felt like a long shot, but if there is one thing Rhule has proven he can do, even at Nebraska, it’s recruit.

And this might be his best recruiting win…if he can pull it off.
