Khalil Taylor has committed to Nebraska football and quickly became one of the Huskers’ most important pledges on Monday in 2027.

Nebraska football landed its 10th blue-chip commitment in the 2027 class on Friday, following the pledge of four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound wideout is ranked No. 84 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, giving the Huskers four in the top 100 of those rankings, as well as five in the top 128.

Taylor checks one really big box for the Huskers in the 2027 class. Nebraska football has the five-star quarterback in Trae Taylor. Khalil gives him an elite weapon to pair with other pass catchers on the roster.

Nebraska beats Penn State for blue-chip WR

Out of Pennsylvania, Nebraska football won a head-to-head battle for Taylor’s commitment with Penn State. Colorado and Alabama were right there, too. However, the Huskers commit Trae Taylor. Those other teams don’t.

Taylor isn’t the biggest receiver in the world. He’s a touchdown machine, though. He had 38 touchdowns over the past two seasons, with 45 percent of his receptions ending up as a scoring play. The blue-chip recruit can play all three spots and is elite with the ball in his hands.

Nebraska still has confidence that it can flip five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson. Yet, landing Taylor gives Trae a top-100 wideout to develop with, along with Tay Ellis and Justyn Lindsay in the 2027 class.

Nebraska has 22 commitments total in 2027. 10 of them are blue-chips. Matt Rhule has done a solid job putting this class together — the best for the Huskers in 15 years. It won’t end up as a top-10 class, but it will feel like one if Hudson flips. The 2026 class is already showing some diamonds in the rough, too, like Jamal Rule and Hayden Ainsworth.

Together, these are two solid classes that have basically checked all the boxes. Nose tackle and left tackle were two positional needs satisfied in 2026, although you always need more at those positions.

Taylor is a touchdown maker. Those guys make a difference, and during the Raiola era, there weren’t enough of them. Cortez Mills could have a similar impact at some point, but with Taylor, it’s easy to feel better about the upside of the wide receiver room moving forward.
