The Nebraska football team is nearing the completion of the second week of fall camp. The first scrimmage of fall camp will be on Saturday and will be closed to the public. Not even parents will be allowed to attend.

That scrimmage will play a key role in determining the depth chart for the Ohio game. The Huskers have a few position battles to sort out, although the offensive line doesn’t seem to be one of them.

Running back, cornerback, and linebacker seem to be three positions where things are still unsettled. The same could be said for safety and defensive line.

Saturday’s scrimmage will essentially wrap up the second week of fall camp. Week 1 will be three weeks away on Saturday, and looking back at the first two weeks of camp, here are three Huskers with rising stock.

Isaiah Mozee

The battle to be the starting running back has been intense. It’s a position where more than one player can have a role. I expect Mozee, Mekhi Nelson, and Jamal Rule to each get 100 carries this season, or close. It will be a running-back-by-committee approach.

Rule is still getting a lot of buzz. At some point, he might be the starter. Week 1, it feels like Mozee. He’s added weight up to 215 pounds, focused more on running between the tackles, something that will be put to the test on Saturday, and he knows the system. He’s a dangerous receiver and is likely ahead of the true freshman when it comes to pass protection.

The former four-star recruit has made the full transition to running back, and he’s put together a really solid camp, so even if he doesn’t start, he will have a key role to play on the offense.

Victor Evans

The FIU transfer, who started nine games last season, drew praise from Matt Rhule last week. He runs the 40-meter dash in 4.31 seconds and is the only cornerback with starting experience outside of Andrew Marshall and Donovan Jones, who will start at nickel.

Evans continued to be mentioned as a player to watch this season. It might be hard for him to hold off Danny Odem for the entire season, or even Jeremiah Charles, who is having a strong camp, but Evans has emerged as another solid corner, and nowadays, you need four or five good ones to make it through the season anyway.

Tyson Terry

After missing all of last season due to an injury suffered in high school, Tyson Terry has hit the ground running ahead of his sophomore season.

The undefeated heavyweight state champion, the only person in Nebraska state history to do that, Terry is listed at 6-foot-2, 300 pounds. He looked good this offseason, but that’s translated in a big way to the practice field, to the point that Steve Sippple reported that he’s heard Terry is among the top four defensive tackles along with Riley Van Poppel, Owen Stoudmire, and Jashear Whittington.

Since Terry hasn’t played in a game in two years, it might take some time for him to adjust, but it feels like he has a leg up on the other young defensive tackles like Malcolm Simpson, Dylan Berymon, and David Hoffken to join the DT rotation.

Wrestlers tend to make good defensive linemen. Hand placement is essential, and wrestlers tend to have really strong hands. They are also good at utilizing leverage. Terry’s dad is a D-line coach, which has probably helped his transition to college, and now Tyson seems ready to make an impact at some point this season
