Running back recruiting is getting interesting for Nebraska football. Despite two commitments in the 2025 class, the Huskers extended another offer to a somewhat familiar face — Ethan Ervin.

Ervin is a familiar name because his brother is current Nebraska football running back Gabe Ervin. Ethan is a 2025 running back who is unranked according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Ervin is 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, and plays for Buford. He’s also committed to Florida Atlantic right now, which makes the offer interesting from a Huskers’ perspective. Nebraska football is the second power-4 offer for Ervin. Utah has offered and some of the others include UCharlotte, East Carolina, App State, UAB, Marshall, and Western Michigan.

Thoughts on offer to Ethan Ervin

Of course, the Huskers have two running backs already committed in the 2025 class. Conor Booth has been a long-time commitment for the Huskers. The in-state running back just took his official visit too.

Nebraska football also landed four-star running back Jamarion Parker from St. Louis recently. Parker is the blue-chip back the Huskers needed, especially after Kewan Lacy flipped late in the 2024 class.

That left Nebraska without a running back signee in the 2024 class — something that could be fixed by Mekhi Nelson, another running back recruit on the radar. Nelson was thought to be a 2025 recruit. His recruiting profile says that but the Huskers are trying to land him as a 2024.

Nelson is expected to take an official visit during the week, which could lead to a commitment and him joining the 2024 roster. That makes the offer to Ervin even more interesting.

Just when it seemed like Nebraska wasn’t going after three running backs in 2025, they offered a committed back somewhere else, which makes you think that maybe they do want three in 2025 after all.
