Nebraska football will learn its bowl game destination on Sunday, but if all the predictions are correct, the Cornhuskers are headed to New York for the Pinstripe Bowl.
According to six different projections from ESPN (2), CBS Sports, Athlon Sports, The Action Network, and the Bleacher Report, Nebraska football will head to the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
The matchup varies but Boston College and Pittsburgh were among the projected opponents for the game. There was talk of the Music City Bowl, but it seems like Michigan and Iowa will be headed to Tampa and Nashville, although it’s not clear which program is headed where.
Nebraska football fans will travel though, which is why the Pinstripe Bowl probably makes sense. Either way, the Cornhuskers will be hungry for a win. A seventh win would clinch a winning season, something Nebraska football hasn’t had since 2016, the last time the Huskers played in a bowl game.
Former Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost going back to UCF
You wondered when Scott Frost would get another chance at being a head coach. Well, just two full seasons after being fired from Nebraska, Frost has been hired to be the UCF head coach once again. It’s official.
Frost led UCF to a 13-0 season back in 2017, before leaving for the Nebraska football program. As we all know, it didn’t work out.
I’m glad to see Frost get another opportunity and I wish him the best of luck. It’s a Power-4 gig now that UCF is in the Big 12 so it’s a different job and we’ll see how he does.
Good luck though, Scott. Seriously.
Big Ten opener for Nebraska women’s basketball
The 7-1 Nebraska women’s basketball team will open Big Ten conference play Sunday at home against Minnesota (10-0) at 1 PM CST (BTN). The Golden Gophers are off to a strong start and they’re doing it with defense. They only have two scorers averaging in double figures but haven’t allowed a single team to reach 60 points.
Only two have scored more than 50 as the Gophers lead women’s college basketball in scoring defense (46.1 ppg). They are also allowing teams to shoot just 32.4 percent from the field and 23 percent from 3-point range.
Nebraska, on the other hand, is second in all of women’s college basketball with 1.19 points per possession. Alexis Markowsi and Britt Prince lead a versatile offense that ranks 7th nationally in field-goal percentage (50.3), 5th in 3-point percentage (41.4), 12th in assists (19.4) and 19th in scoring (84.4).
Even with Natalie Potts out for the season, Nebraska women’s basketball has four different players averaging at least one 3-point field goal per game. The Cornhuskers have also had 10 different players start at least one game.
The rotation is still getting figured out and while this team isn’t as dangerous without Potts, one of the best players in the Big Ten, it’s still going to be fun to watch and Minnesota will test the strength of the Nebraska offense.
