Nebraska football has been focused on building up the trenches this offseason, and there could be some good news on that front soon, at least in the 2026 recruiting class.

Even though most recruits announced their commitments early and signed during the early period. One who didn’t was 6-foot, 330-pound defensive tackle Dylan Berymon.

The one-time Texas commitment recently took an official visit to Nebraska. Kentucky was another team firmly in the mix. The Wildcats have a new head coach, and as we learned in the Kenny Mincey recruitment, they have money to spend, too.

Yet, Matt Rhule and new defensive line coach Corey Brown visited Berymon last week in Louisiana. The 330-pounder is ranked No. 211 overall in the Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s ranked No. 199 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Either way, Berymond would be one of Nebraska’s top-ranked recruits in the 2026 class. Considering he plays defensive tackle, a position of need, too, he’s one of the most important.

Steve Wiltfong of Rivals and Tim Verghese of Inside Nebraska have put in projections with the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine for Berymon to commit to Nebraska. He could sign during the signing period in February.

It’s not easy for defensive tackles to play right away. Nebraska added a pair via the transfer portal, plus the Huskers have Riley Van Poppel, Malcolm Simpson, Gabe Moore, and other players coming back next season.

However, the long-term ceiling of the room would be much higher. Down the road, Nebraska fooball could have Simpson and Berymon as their starting defensive tackles — two blue-chip prospects.

Berymon could provide some immediate depth, too. 330-pounders don’t grow on trees. If this commitment happens, that’s one reason Nebraska fans should be excited. Not just because Berymond is 300, but because he’s 330, and can move. He’s one of those rare individuals.
