Husker Big Red Daily: Ahmad Hudson expected to visit, Huskers missing from All-Big Ten team

Nebraska football fans holding out hope that the Huskers will be able to flip five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson in the 2027 recruiting class got some good news on Monday.

Tom Loy of 247 Sports posted on X that he expects Hudson to take a visit this fall for a game. That would be a huge development for the Huskers, who have been gaining momentum in their efforts to flip the 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end, who is ranked 18th overall out of Ruston, Louisiana, in the 2027 class, via the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Nebraska hosted Hudson for an official visit this summer. A gameday visit would be his third. LSU will be tough to beat in this recruitment, but Ohio State, Miami, Florida, and others have started circling, so the Huskers have competition.

Still, Matt Rhule and company would have to feel good about the Huskers’ chances of winning this recruitment if this report ends up being true.

All-Big Ten team only has one Husker

Not only was Nebraska football picked 11th in the preseason Big Ten poll, but the Huskers are mostly absent from the USA Today’s All-Big Ten team.

Jacory Barney was selected as the preseason All-Big Ten punt returner. He was a pre-season fourth-team All-American, so it’s not a crazy prediction. However, it’s still notable that Nebraska doesn’t have a single position player projected to be First-Team All-Big Ten.

That’s a problem that has existed for years. Rhule needs to fix that. The 2027 recruiting class is a good place to start, assuming the Huskers can get them all signed. A winning season should get that done.

Outside of maybe Justin Evans, it’s also hard to make an argument for any Nebraska football player to be included. The list seems correct — that’s the problem. The Huskers need some breakout performances this season. They need some guys to become stars.

That’s what the preseason All-Big Ten team tells us.

Nebraska vs. Florida set for Spikes Under The Lights

From Huskers.com: “Nebraska is set to take on Florida in the inaugural Spikes Under the Lights, a premium women’s college volleyball showcase on Thursday, Aug. 27 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The matchup between the Huskers and Gators is scheduled for 7 p.m., followed by Penn State and SMU at 8 p.m. The winners of the two matches advance to a championship match at 9 p.m.

Spikes Under the Lights will mark the first women’s collegiate sporting event at AT&T Stadium and feature a $1 million prize purse, the largest ever awarded in women’s college sports. The event comes as women’s volleyball continues to experience significant growth in attendance, viewership, and athlete visibility nationwide.”
