Nebraska football should be worried about a flip in the 2025 class

When committed recruits visit other programs, it’s time to start worry about the commitment and Nebraska football has reached that point.

It wasn’t that long ago that we wrote about Missouri’s offer to Nebraska football commitment Jeremiah Jones of the 2025 class.

The three-star prospect out of Kentucky, is 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, and a dynamic athlete. He’s expected to be a defensive back for Nebraska, but he’s also played wide receiver.

Missouri jumped into the mix with an offer recently. It had to worry some Nebraska football fans after watching two of the Huskers’ top-ranked commitments get flipped in the 2024 class, but it’s part of the game.

The Tigers are in the SEC. They are close in proximity to Jones and they have an impressive NIL war chest — although Nebraka’s has been on the rise.

At the time, I said not to worry unless Jones visited Missouri. Well, that’s happened at least according to a new report from Rivals that says Jones visited recently along with getting an offer from Missouri. It sounds like the Tigers might have an interest in Jones, who had five interceptions last season, on offense.

Jones saw his ranking bump up after his commitment and he’s ranked No. 593 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also fifth in the state of Kentucky.

Yet, Jones is one of the Huskers’ most underrated commitments. Frankly, I don’t know how he’s not a four-star recruit after watching his highlights.

Kids fall through the cracks all the time though. Missouri wasn’t paying attention before but they are now and the Tigers seem like a real threat to flip the talented 2025 athlete.

We’ll see if Jones visits again, but if he does, my concern level, which is probably medium, would go through the roof. As it stands, the Huskers probably need to get Jones back on campus for a game, before Missouri does.
