Nebraska football is expected to land another blue-chip commitment in the 2027 class on Wednesday, as four-star Nehemiah Ombati has an announcement scheduled.

Missouri and Michigan State are the other finalists for the 6-foot-2, 275-pound defensive lineman, who is ranked No. 372 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, a four-star. Rivals has him ranked as a high three-star.

Ombati will announce his commitment live on the Rivals YouTube channel at 12:30 PM CST. This would be the sixth commitment in the past six days, with five commitments over three days this weekend.

The 247 Sports crystal ball favors Nebraska football in this recruitment. The Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Huskers a 97 percent chance to win out. This would be the eighth blue-chip commitment in the class for the Huskers, who are also trending to land two more in four-star wideout Matthew Gregory and four-star corner Jailen Hill.

That would put Nebraska football at 10 blue-chip commitments for 2027, with Albert Simien, Ahmad Hudson, and Kyler Kuhn still on the board. With 15 commitments (7 blue-chips), the Huskers are ranked 21st right now, according to 247 Sports, but that ranking should improve by the end of the day.

Nebraska softball suffers transfer portal departures

Two Nebraska softball players, Kylee Magee and Olivia DiNardo have entered the transfer portal, according to reports. Magee made nine appearances in the circle last season for the Huskers with 1-0 record and a  3.33 ERA. She struck out 23 batters in 21 innings pitched.

DiNardo, a catcher/utility player, didn’t play any games for Nebraska softball during the 2026 season. However, she started 46 games in 2025 and earned All-Region honors for the Huskers, hitting .376 with five home runs and 42 RBI.

With all the departures from the 2026 team, with 12 seniors graduating, including Jordy Frahm, DiNardo’s bat would have been useful in the lineup. Rhonda Revelle has her work cut out for her.

Another non-conference game was announced on Wednesday, as the Huskers will take on Butler.

The matchup between the Huskers and Bulldogs will take place at the Credit Union 1 Arena on Sunday, Nov. 22.  Ticket information, tipoff-time and broadcast information will be announced later this summer.
