The Husker games have finally arrived. Nebraska football will play its scrimmage, with players not on the two-deep, on Saturday, while the Husker volleyball team will take on Kansas.
On top of all that, the 2025 NFL draft will reach its third day. Ty Robinson should be coming off the board soon. Frankly, I was thinking he would get picked on day two.
However, that didn’t happen. Just like Shedeur Sanders. There’s actually a real chance Robinson could go before Sanders, which is maybe why Joel Klatt was so salty about Nebraska football during the NFL draft.
When talking about Xavier Watts getting drafted in the third round for Notre Dame, Klatt talked about how he was from Omaha and that Nebraska football doesn’t get the best players from Nebraska anymore.
Some of that is true. Nebraska lost the stranglehold on Omaha and needs to get it back. But there was no reason for a Buffalo to be talking about the “downfall” of Nebraska football.
At least the Huskers aren’t retiring the numbers of average quarterbacks, Joel. I’d say that’s a lot more embarrassing than Nebraska having some struggles on the field.
Honestly, after watching lots of great Colorado players over the years, every single person associated with that program and every single fan should be embarrassed and angry that Shedeur Sanders got his number retired.
It’s probably the most undeserving number retirement in sports history. So maybe Joel Klatt should worry about his alma mater before commenting on Nebraska, which will be a playoff contender in 2025, by the way.
More on the Husker games
Dani Busboom-Kelly makes her debut as the Nebraska volleyball head coach in the spring match against Kansas on Saturday. It won’t count for anything beyond tonight, but it’s still going to be awesome to see her make her debut with a team that’s loaded heading into 2025.
The “spring game,” which will be a 60-play scrimmage for the Nebraska football team, minus most, if not all, of the two-deep. The game will start at 2 p.m. There will be some other festivities too.
Nebraska’s volleyball match against Kansas (7 PM CST) will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
