Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

Nebraska football fans probably didn’t think much of it when five-star offensive tackle Albert Simien committed to Notre Dame over Texas A&M last week.

Yet, after the miss on the elite interior offensive lineman, the Aggies are looking for a replacement, and it seems as though, Jordan Agbanoma, the four-star commitment of Nebraska football, is one of their targets.

It’s hard to blame the Aggies. Agbanoma is elite. The 6-foot-2.5, 300-pound interior offensive lineman is ranked 80th overall in the 2027 class, via the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s ranked fourth among offensive linemen (interior), as well as the seventh-best recruit in the of state of Georgia.

There aren’t any indications that the Huskers have anything to worry about, other than the fact that the Aggies have a ton of NIL resources and likely a bunch of money to spend that was allocated for Simien.

Something to keep an eye on. Nebraska is still trending as the favorite to land Khalil Taylor. It still feels 50/50 with Florida three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield.

A flip target for Nebraska football in 2028

The Huskers haven’t recruited the EDGE position well enough under Matt Rhule. That needs to change. You need quarterbacks and people who hit the quarterback, along with those who protect the quarterback.

Nebraska has done well with the QB (Trae Taylor) and the protector (Claude Mpouma) based on their rankings, now they need to shore up EDGE recruiting. An offer to Texas A&M blue-chip EDGE Chance Archangel, who is 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, and ranked No. 255 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings, is trying to do just that.

Archangel is a Texas A&M commit, but he has also been offered by Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Notre Dame, and SMU. The Huskers join the list on Sunday. He’s out of New Iberia, Louisiana, and committed to Texas A&M on June 2nd.

Trae Taylor wins Elite 11 MVP

Taylor, the Nebraska football commitment, who recently got a fifth star from 247 Sports, was awarded the Elite 11 MVP last week. 247 Sports has him ranked as the No. 1 QB in the 2027 class. ESPN has him at No. 2.

Taylor also offered a funny interview over the weekend after a reporter questioned his athleticism. He responded that he ran for over 700 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, on top of his work as a thrower.

Trae Taylor is the real deal. This is another reminder of that.
