Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.
It felt like Nebraska football made some positive inroads in the 2028 recruiting class during the Indiana game.
Blue-chip safety Jordan Hicks is just one player who came away impressed with the Huskers. A close loss against the defending national champions isn’t going to hurt Nebraska, especially with how electric the crowd was.
Who wouldn’t want to be part of that?
The Huskers continue to give five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson something to think about. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end is an elite pass catcher. He was on campus for the Maryland game. After that, it still felt like LSU had the edge, but there’s more buzz about Nebraska football.
“This kid loves this place. He wanted to come here before he went to LSU,” a source told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals.
Nebraska football recruiting insider Tim Verghese also quote-tweeted a post about LSU losing an in-state commitment to Florida and said he could see that number growing, a clear reference to Hudson flipping his commitment to the Huskers.
That’s the biggest recruiting storyline to follow. Signing day is less than two months away.
Andrew Marshall is playing like a first-round pick
Indiana has two elite wide receivers: Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker. We all know what Marsh did to Victor Evans in the fourth quarter, but Marsh allowed just one reception all day.
There was a 43-yard pass to Becker on the first drive of the game. It looked more like a coverage bust than Becker beating Marshall one-on-one. After that, Becker was erased from the game, according to NFL draft analyst Anthony Russo.
Russo believes Marshall is a first-round pick. Another strong game against Oregon will help his draft stock. The Nebraska football cornerback will also get a chance to go one-on-one with Jeremiah Smith next month in what will be one of the best wide receiver-cornerback matchups in college football this season.
