Nebraska football has been making a strong push to land four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor. The Huskers hosted him for an official visit last weekend and rolled out the red carpet.

It seems that effort has paid off. According to multiple Rivals’ recruiting experts, Steve Wiltfong, a national analyst, and also Tim Verghese from Inside Nebraska have each projected the Huskers to land the Penn State lean.

Taylor, who was projected by Wiltfong to Penn State, is a dynamic playmaker. He’s 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, and ranked 82nd overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Taylor has long been a top target of the Huskers for monhts. It felt like four-star wideout Matthew Gregory was going to commit. That caused Taylor to cancel his visit.

But, after Gregory committed to UCLA, Nebraska football got Taylor to cancel his visit to Alabama, and now, despite visiting Penn State 17 times, Matt Rhule is poised to win Taylor’s commitment for Nebraska.

What would Khalil Taylor mean for Nebraska football recruiting class?

Taylor has a decision date set for July 6th. We’ll see if he sticks to that. If he does, there is still work to do for the Huskers to close out this commitment. It’s not surprising, though. It felt like Nebraska football had extra money to use after Gregory went to UCLA, which might have come into play here.

Taylor isn’t a tall receiver, but he’s a touchdown machine. During the last two seasons of high school football, he’s caught 38 touchdowns. 45 percent of his receptions have resulted in scores. That’s unheard of.

With three-star wideouts Tay Ellis and Justyn Lindsay already committed, it would give Nebraska football three wide receiver commitments in the 2027 class to go along with five-star QB commit Trae Taylor.

Khalil Taylor would also be the fourth top-100 commitment, fifth in the top 128, in a class that has met its lofty expectations. Colorado is still in the mix. So are Penn State and Alabama. Things are looking good for the Huskers, though.
