Just two days after Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule said that Mac Markway, the tight end turned defensive end, would see the field more in the coming weeks.

The former LSU tight end, who transferred to Nebraska, suffering multiple season-ending injuries in the process, played six snaps on Saturday. He also showed up on the depth chart for the first time this week.

However, Markway posted on Instagram on Wednesday that he was stepping away from football. He said that his knees were preventing him from playing the way he wants to.

It’s a sad end to his Nebraska football career. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Jamal Rule gets more recognition

The Pro Football Network graded Jamal Rule as the No. 1 freshman from College Football Week 1 after his 169-yard effort against Ohio last week.

Rule, a three-star recruit from North Carolina, got 15 carries for 122 yards on the ground. He also caught two passes for 47 yards and three total touchdowns. Rule averaged 7.8 yards after contact per rush, which is incredible. He also added +1.08 per play. His grade was 98.5.

Against Bowling Green, a team that allowed 7.8 yards per rush to an FCS team last week, Rule should have another stellar week. The offensive line should play better after being challenged by Matt Rhule, the Nebraska head coach, so Rule could be up for more honors next week.

Nebraska will host 2030 QB for Bowling Green game

Carter Cupito is a true freshman in high school, but already has a year of starting experience under his belt and is attracting Big Ten offers.

Cuptio, a 6-foot quarterback from Minneapolis, started as an eighth-grader in football and basketball. In his first high school game of the 2026 season, he passed for 402 yards and five touchdowns.He also added 53 yards on the ground for 455 total.

Minnesota has already offered Cupito, who passed for 1,600 yards last season and 12 touchdowns. Nebraska hasn’t offered yet. He will visit the Huskers this Saturday and then Northwestern. It feels like an offer is coming soon and this is a QB Nebraska football fans will need to know.
