Nebraska football

Nebraska football fans breathed a sigh of relief on Friday when four-star quarterback recruit Trae Taylor said in an interview that “I’m a Cornhusker.”

Taylor also said in the same interview that he didn’t want to burn any bridges. The top-100 quarterback is one of the bright spots that fans have attached themselves to, as they hope that Matt Rhule will be able to turn the corner with the Nebraska football program after going 19-19 in the first three years.

Ohio State, which is seeking another quarterback in its 2027 class, isn’t just targeting Taylor. However, the talented QB from Chicago has been dominant during the spring circuit, and with Ryan Day’s son also being a 2027 recruit, it was easy for the Buckeyes head coach to fall in love with what Taylor can do.

Taylor said he isn’t taking any visits. His dad also confirmed that Taylor doesn’t expect to visit the Buckeyes, so for now, Nebraska football fans can rest easy, to a point.

A commitment isn’t a signing. When it comes to players like Taylor, you have to guard that commitment until signing day, so Nebraska fans should get used to this. The same idea applies to Tory Pittman.

Nebraska softball reaches Big Ten title game

Freshman Alexis Jensen, Big Ten Freshman of the Year Alexis Jensen, has been spectacular this season and was again on Saturday, tossing a complete-game shutout to knock off Indiana. Jensen was credited with 12 strikeouts and even allowed two runners on in the top of the seventh before getting out of the jam.

Jordy Frahm pitched in with two hits and an RBI. She was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, but was robbed of Big Ten Player of the Year.

Regardless, the Huskers can sweep the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles with a win over UCLA on Saturday. The first pitch goes out at 12 PM CST (BTN).

Nebraska baseball starts strong

Carson Jasa struck out nine Iowa Hawkeyes and allowed just two hits in seven scoreless innings as Nebraska baseball cruised to a 10-0 win over Iowa. Trey Finkes and Dylan Carey each had home runs in the win as well as two RBI.

Nebraska is now 35-14 on the season and 18-7 in the Big Ten. They will aim for the series win on Saturday. Ty Horn will be on the mound for Will Bolt’s team.

The first pitch is set for 2 p.m. Central on BTN+.
