Nebraska football already has a quarterback committed in the 2026 class. That’s three-star Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of current starter Dylan Raiola.
Dayton Raiola has been rising in the rankings after his commitment to the Huskers. There’s a good chance he’ll rise again after this spring and fall.
The kid has developed a lot since Nebraska football first offered him a scholarship. Jeff Thomalla (6-4, 205) opened some eyes around the recruiting world, and the in-state quarterback is now a four-star and ranked No. 251 overall, as well as 19th among quarterbacks.
Raiola is 6-foot-1, 205 pounds. He’s ranked 907th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and 74th among quarterbacks. We have seen Nebraska fooball get ahead of the rankings, and they have no reason no to trust their evaluation.
Raiola also told Husker Online that he’ll be taking an official visit on June 20th, when some other top targets will be on campus. So the 2026 QB commitment is solid, and that doesn’t appear to be changing.
2027 QB Trae Taylor will visit Nebraska football
It’s also clear that Nebraska football has a top priority at the quarterback position, Trae Taylor. Taylor isn’t ranked according to the 247 Sprots composite rankings, but he’s a four-star according to Rivals and will surely get his stars soon.
The 6-foot-3 quarterback has Michigan among his finalists, along with Notre Dame, Illinois, and LSU. Texas A&M is also a finalist and listed as “warm” on his 247 Sports profile, just like the others.
Taylor visited for the Wisconsin game, and he announced on X that he will visit Nebraska football this spring. In an interview with Husker Online, Taylor talked about how the offense impressed him against Wisconsin and how Nebraska “Is doing everything right with me.”
Taylor will make a decision this summer so these spring visits are important and if I had to guess, Nebraska football feels among the top two or three teams in this recruitment.
