Nebraska football recruit Chase Loftin is one of the top priorities for the Huskers in the 2025 class and according to a new report from Steve Wiltfong of On3.com, he’s going to announce a decision “soon.”

Soon is a relative term. I take it to mean after he takes all of his official visits. Nebraska football is expected to host Loftin on June 21st. Next weekend, he will visit Texas A&M, before making his final stop at Nebraska.

Lofting is 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, and ranked No. 376 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Omaha prospect is also the second-ranked player in the state of Nebraska.

The in-state prospect has been a priority for Matt Rhule since he was hired and Loftin has taken nine trips to Lincoln over the past year and that includes the official visit later this month. None of the other finalists (Missouri, Texas A&M, FSU) have hosted him more than twice.

Loftin told Wiltfong that Florida State “set the bar high” and that the Seminoles “were a great option” for a decision that would be coming “soon.”

Thoughts on Chase Loftin’s timeline

If a decision came before his official visit to Nebraska football, that wouldn’t be a good sign but I expect Loftin to decide after that, probably in July after his visit. Maybe the Huskers can get him to commit that weekend like they did with Carter Nelson, but until the Huskers have had their say I wouldn’t worry too much.

Rhule just landed another promising in-state recruit on Saturday. That’s five in the 2025 class and four of the top seven. The Nebraska head coach hasn’t missed on many in-state recruits since he was hired. That’s why even though Missouri, Florida State, and Texas A&M are all great options, my money is still on Nebraska.
