Nebraska football got some major recruiting news on Tuesday afternoon. 2025 linebacker Christian Jones was Crystal Ball’d to Nebraska by Steve Wilfong.
Jones is the 10th overall linebacker in the 2025 class, and the top player in the 2025 class from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Crystal Ball prediction was put in by Steve Wilfong. He had a medium confidence score of six on his Crystal Ball.
Jones has heard from several big-time schools in regards to offers. In addition to Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin are the schools that have extended him an offer. They are the top schools that appear in contention for his services. He is being recruited to Nebraska by linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek.
Jones would bring an instant impact to the Nebraska football defense. He is extremely aggressive, and can make plays from just about anywhere in the backfield. His speed is a very noticeable part of his game. He uses it to close on players quickly. In addition to those traits, he also has tremendous play recognition. Jones can close on ball carriers quickly, and that allows him to really make his presence known defensively.
Jones also has an invite to the All-American Bowl. He received it on Tuesday. This would be another notch for Nebraska football in that regard, should he commit to the program.
Currently, the 2025 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 15th overall in the country with two commitments in Caden VerMaas and Tyson Terry. Jones would be another solid in-state guy for the program, and allow Nebraska football to continue to build out the class in that regard.
It’s still relatively early for a Crystal Ball prediction. Nevertheless, the fact that Steve Wilfong put one in does have my attention. His accuracy can be off at times, but he does have one of the higher prediction percentages at 91%.
It will be interesting to see if Nebraska can land Jones, and add yet another stellar in-state athlete into the program.
