Nebraska football was able to pick up a commitment from 2025 three-star athlete Jeremiah Jones on Monday afternoon. He made the announcement on X.

Jones is the 29th overall athlete in the 2025 class, and the fourth overall player in his class from the state of Kentucky per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. It came down to both Louisville and Nebraska for his services. However, the Nebraska football program won out in the end.

Jones most recently took Nebraska on June 21.

Jones is a playmaker in every sense of the word. He is listed as an athlete, and he played multiple positions in high school, including on the offensive side of the football. Quarterback and wide receiver were also primary positions of his.

However, his athleticism and speed should also help him on the defensive side of the football as well. He had 97 tackles and five interceptions as a sophomore in 2022. Right now, it looks as though he is going to fit at the safety position.

Defensively, he does a good job of being able to come down and make plays on the football right away. This is where his speed comes into play. He does a good job of being able to recognize plays happening out of the backfield.

We have seen Nebraska football be able to change positions with several current players on the roster as well. Jeremiah Charles, Brice Turner and Jaidyn Doss are all examples of that. All three have moved over to the secondary unit.

This coaching staff likes to take athletes and fold them into how they see fit. For Jones, the safety position is one where he could excel at right away.

Nebraska football 2025 class continues to roll

This is another massive commitment for a Nebraska football program that has been on a bit of a hot streak the last couple days. They have landed three commitments since Thursday evening, and currently have 13 commitments in the 2025 class in total.

The commitment of Jones starts the month of July strong. Jones gives Nebraska football positional versatility. This is something that the Nebraska football coaching staff loves, and for good reason. Being able to take talented athletes and move them around to fit the program is something that every coach loves. Nebraska did a nice job of getting Jones here.
