There’s been a lot happening with Nebraska football and the transfer portal. The Huskers landed their second commitment over the weekend, but even more visitors and targets are emerging.
One player who Nebraska football targeted early in the transfer portal is 6-foot-8 offensive tackle Isaiah World. The 309-pound left tackle has started 35 games over the past three seasons and earned Honorable Mention All-Mountain West for his efforts.
World had 420 pass-blocking reps in 2024 and didn’t allow a single sack. That’s exactly the kind of upgrade Nebraska football could use on the offensive line.
The Huskers have Gunnar Gottula coming back. He finished the season as the starting left tackle following an injury to Teddy Prochazka, who started six games in 2023 but missed the entire 2024 season.
Prochazka was a top-100 recruit coming out of high school, but injuries have derailed his career. Bryce Benhart, the starting right tackle, is out of eligibility. That leaves a big question mark at one of the most important positions on the field, maybe the second-most important on offense, outside of quarterback.
Nebraska football needs a left tackle
Getting a true blind-side protector for Dylan Raiola should be a top priority for the Huskers this offseason and the good news is that Nebraska will host World for a visit this week. He just visited Texas A&M and Oregon is on the horizon.
World is one of the top players in the transfer portal. Offensive tackles are always at a premium, but even more so in the portal because good ones are rarely in there. Sean Callahan of Husker Online reports that World has a reported price tag of $1 million.
Callahan also reported that Nebraska views salary structure as similar to the NFL. It wants to invest the most in quarterbacks, pass rushers, and left tackles.
The fact that World is visiting Nebraska football tells you the Huskers are serious. If they didn’t have a substantial deal on the table, he wouldn’t waste his time. But will Nebraska meet or exceed that $1 million price tag?
If they can, they should. This team needs an elite offensive tackle to go with its elite quarterback, no matter the cost.
