More recruiting experts have projected Dylan Raiola to commit to Georgia, which means Nebraska football needs to find another QB.

The recruitment of Dylan Raiola gave Nebraska football fans something to be excited about, but it’s time to be realistic — he’s not committing to the Huskers.

In recent weeks, Georgia has clearly taken the lead for the five-star quarterback and No. 1 overall recruit in the 2024 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Bulldogs are the only team with an official visit scheduled right now, and honestly, I think a decision will be made before then.

Things have definitely taken a turn in the Raiola recruitment. You could tell things were going south for Nebraska football when Raiola canceled his trip for the spring game and didn’t schedule an official visit. USC and Oregon have already started pushing for other quarterbacks and the Huskers need to move on too.

Steve Wiltfong projected Raiola to Bulldogs, flipping his crystal ball and people scoffed at it. Yet, Parker Thune and another Nebraska insider for 247, both changed their picks to Georgia on Monday too, matching Wiltfong.

Thune was the first expert to put in a crystal ball projection after Raiola decommitted from Ohio State and it was for the Huskers. He obviously viewed Nebraska football as the favorite and now, that has changed.

What does it mean for Nebraska?

It means the Huskers need to offer a different 2024 quarterback soon. Matt Rhule is following Dante Reno, well, it’s time to make an offer. It’s time to try and get back in the good graces of Daniel Kaelin because the quarterback board is looking rough and the Huskers have left themselves without any backup options.

Reno has been committed to South Carolina since last summer and flipping him is going to be tough, regardless of the relationship that Marcus Satterfield might have.

Making matters worse is that Isaiah McMorris was also projected to USC, after getting two crystal ball projections to Oklahoma. McMorris was on campus last week, but Nebraska is still running third it seems and that’s not a great sign for one of the top prospects in the state of Nebraska for 2024.

In terms of quarterback recruiting, it’s back to the drawing board. The staff shouldn’t waste any more time or resources on Raiola. The die is cast.
