2024 Nebraska football commit Jacory Barney Jr. made a huge play, in his team’s playoff game on Thursday night.

Miami Palmetto won their Tropical Park playoff game by a score of 21-7 over Doral Academy. Barney scored a 99-yard touchdown to seal the deal in the game, as Miami Palmetto advances to the next round of the state’s 4A playoffs.

Barney has had a stellar season to this point. He has recorded 424 total all-purpose yards in eight games played.

Barney has also managed to receive some accolades over the past couple weeks. He was named a CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy nominee on November 2. The trophy is awarded to South Florida’s best high school football player. The four finalists for the award will be announced on November 14.

A busy year for the Nebraska Football commit

Overall, this has been a pretty productive year for the Nebraska football commit. He officially committed to the program on July 1, in what was a summer recruiting blitz. He also plans to enroll at Nebraska in January, in an effort to get started for the program early.

In the meantime, he was making waves for his high school team. The 99-yard kick return touchdown was a thing of beauty.

Barney measures in at 6 feet, 160 pounds. He will undoubtedly add a spark to the Nebraska football offense with his playmaking ability and speed. Nebraska football could use him right now, with the depth at wide receiver being incredibly thin.

In any event, plays like the one he made on Thursday give us a glimpse into what he can bring to the table. The future of the Nebraska football wide receiver room is exciting and Barney certainly plays a part in that.
