Nebraska football has some star-studded visitors coming to campus this weekend for the Rutgers game, but most of those were expected to 2025 commitments of 2026/2027 recruits.

However, there will be a recruit committed elsewhere visiting this weekend in the 2025 class and that’s four-star wideout Corey Simms, who has been committed to USC since June.

Simms is out of St. Louis, Missouri. He’s ranked No. 267 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings in the 2025 class. He’s 6-foot-3, 205 pounds and Nebraska football was in the mix at one point. He has visited campus before and according to Steve Wiltfong of On3.com, Simms will be in Lincoln this weekend.

Can Nebraska football flip Corey Simms?

Yet, the Huskers fell off before things got to the point of an official visit. USC is also an attractive place for wide receivers and even without Caleb Williams, the USC offense has continued to produce at a high level.

But Nebraska isn’t the old Nebraska. The Huskers have one of the most talented quarterbacks in all of college football and there’s a chance Simms could make an immediate impact, especially due to his size. Jahmal Banks and Isaiah Neyor are each moving on after this season.

Isaiah Mozee flipped from Oregon to Nebraska recently. Having his dad, Jamar Mozee, a former high school head coach in Missouri, on the Nebraska staff certainly didn’t hurt and with all Mozee’s ties to Missouri, it could be aiding the Huskers in Simms’ recruitment.

Simms’ father said that the four-star wideout was still solid with USC. This was more about just taking a visit, but a visit is a visit. Another one would give me real hope of a flip, but you can never say never in recruiting and this is at least a step in the right direction.
