Nebraska basketball standout Keisei Tominaga is back on the court for Japan, plus recruiting updates and more Nebraska Cornhuskers news.
It’s always fun to watch Keisei Tominaga play basketball, even if it’s not for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and on Saturday, Tominaga was back to his old tricks playing for the Japanese national team.
Japan was playing a warmup game for the World Cup of baskeball, which it will host next month. Tominaga is going to be on that team and on Saturday, he was on fire from deep, scoring 12 points in just over 12 minutes of play.
Of course, the Nebraska Cornhuskers standout, who announced in May that he would return to Nebraska baskeball for another season, made four 3-pointers (4/5).
One of them was quite eye-opening, as Keisei Tominaga fired the ball up just across the half-court line as he thought he was getting fouled. The shot went in.
Keisei didn’t get the call though and it was just another example of the kind of shot-making Nebraska Cornhuskers fans will get to watch for one more season.
Nebraska football recruiting updates: 2024 EDGE has Nebraska Cornhuskers in top five
There aren’t a ton of recruiting targets left on the board for Nebraska football in the 2024 class. However, the Huskers are still looking for some help at the EDGE position.
Jayshawn Ross is a name Nebraska football fans have come to know. He’s 6-foot-3, 220 pounds and while listed as an athlete, Nebraska football wants him as an EDGE rusher.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers were among the teams that made his top five on Saturday along with Oklahoma, Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee. The Sooners just hosted Ross for an official visit and feel like the biggest threat for the Kansas City, Missouri prospect.
Oklahoma has an 89.9 percent chance of landing the commitment of Ross according to the On3 prediction machine. However, there is talk about Ross taking an official visit to Nebraska football.
Ross did see the Nebraska Cornhuskers for an unofficial visit this spring and is teammates with Keelan Smith, a Nebraska football commitment in the 2024 class.
So watch out for that official visit in the fall. If that happens, Nebraska football has a chance. If not, then I see Oklahoma getting the talented athlete from KC.
Nebraska Football keeps making a push in Florida
The Nebraska Cornhuskers added a commitment from the state of Florida last week in four-star wideout Jacory Barney and continue to focus on the Sunshine State.
Nebraska football offered a pair of 2026 defensive backs from Florida this week, plus there were a couple of new crystal balls projecting 2024 Florida DB Amare Sanders to Nebraska.
Well, there’s another Florida recruit to know and this one is top-100 wideout Cortez Mills from the 2025 class. He’s out of Homestead, Florida, and is 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. Mills is ranked 15th among wideouts in 2025 as well as ranking 87th overall and he wants to visit Nebraska.
Getting him on campus for an unofficial visit this fall would be a great sign for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, especially if they could parlay that into an official visit next Spring/Summer.
There’s been a bunch of talk about Matt Rhule re-establishing the Texas recruiting pipeline, but Nebraska football is focused plenty on Florida too.
