There is new intel on the transfer portal recruitments of Nebraska football targets Kyle McCord and Cameron Ward.
Nebraska football is in the mix for a bunch of transfer portal quarterbacks and one of the names to watch is former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord.
Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield flew to Ohio earlier this week to meet with McCord. Yet, the Huskers have also met with Will Howard, Cameron Ward, Blake Shapen, and Sam Leavitt.
While I do think that McCord would be a great fit for Nebraska football, especially if he could recruit former teammate Julian Fleming, a former five-star wide receiver to join him, it sounds like, according to a new report from Pete Nakos of On3.com, this process is going to take time to play out.
It doesn’t sound like there is a timetable for McCord to take visits. Yet, that will happen before a decision according to the report, which also said Syracuse and Rutgers are among the new teams in contact with McCord.
Nebraska ‘pushing for a visit’ with Cameron Ward
The former Washington State starter is one of the top-ranked quarterbacks in the portal from 247 Sports and On3. He’s also been in contact with Nebraska.
A bunch of big-time programs have been in touch with Ward. However, Ohio State isn’t one of them, at least not yet. But USC, Washington, Miami, Florida State, and Oregon are also in the mix according to Nakos.
However, the Huskers are among the teams “pushing for a visit.” It will be interesting to see if they can get McCord or Ward on campus. That’s a good sign that both parties are serious.
Nebraska has been as aggressive as any team in the portal, but it’s hard to narrow down who the No. 1 target is and it might come down to who the Huskers can get.
