Nebraska football is currently in search of a quarterback. Several big names have entered the transfer portal, and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield is reportedly on his way to see one of them. Satterfield is currently on a flight to see former Ohio State signal-caller Kyle McCord. This was first reported by 247Huskers.

McCord is one of the biggest names of the quarterback group in the transfer portal. He entered the portal on Monday morning.

McCord played for Ohio State last season, recording 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

One of his best games of the season last year came against Michigan State. He went 24-of-31 on the afternoon throwing for 335 yards and three touchdowns.

He would help Nebraska football tremendously

He would be the pocket-passing quarterback that Nebraska needs heading into 2024. He is accurate with the football, and has a strong arm downfield. McCord also has tremendous touch on his throws, and he uses it to get his passes into tight windows. Nebraska football did not have any of those qualities in any of the quarterbacks they started last season.

McCord is currently a junior, and would give Nebraska the flexibility to develop 2024 commit Daniel Kaelin. Quarterback development has been a problem in previous seasons. This would allow the development process to fully happen, and not rush Kaelin into things.

Nebraska football needs to remake the quarterback room. Bringing McCord to Lincoln would be a step in the right direction. He would be an immediate impact player, and allow Nebraska to go toe-to-toe with the more difficult opponents on their 2024 schedule.

The Huskers needs to swing for the fences if they want to get a talented quarterback to Lincoln. They have already shown interest in former Michigan State quarterback Sam Leavitt, who could be a good option as a backup quarterback.

Whatever the case, Nebraska has made it clear that they are looking for quarterback. They also made it clear that they are going to try to get the best available. It will be interesting to see what comes of this visit with McCord.
