The Nebraska softball team is headed back to the Super Regionals of the NCAA Tournament thanks to three days of dominant pitching from Jordy Frahm and Alexis Jensen.

On Sunday, in the regional final, Jensen allowed just one hit in five innings of work. She finished with seven strikeouts on her way to the win. It was her second win in the tournament. She gave way to Frahm in the sixth, who shut the door on GCU by striking out five of six batters, despite putting three on base (one walk, two hit by pitch).

It didn’t matter, though. Over the course of nine innings, in two games, Frahm struck out 21 GCU batters and allowed just one hit. Jensen allowed three hits over the weekend. Nebraska softball allowed a total of four in three games, along with one run, which came on a South Dakota home run on Friday.

The Huskers’ offense hasn’t been quite as powerful as it was during the regular season. It has scored just seven runs in three games after scoring 7.23 per game during the regular season. Yet, Hannah Camenzind’s first-inning home run was all the run support Jensen and Frahm needed.

Over two games, Frahm and Jensen combined for 34 strikeouts. The offense will need to get going, but Nebraska softball will host a Super Regional for the first time ever next week against Oklahoma State or Stanford.

And as long as Frahm and Jensen keep pitching like this, whether the Nebraska offense finds its groove or not, the Huskers will be an extremely tough out.
