Nebraska football has emerged as a top contender for elite offensive tackle Grant Brix and here’s another reason to feel good about the Huskers’ chances.

There’s no doubt that four-star offensive tackle Grant Brix is among the top priorities for Nebraska football in the 2024 recruiting class.

Brix is ranked 74th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked No. 1 in the state of Iowa, as well as the No. 5 offensive tackle. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder took an official visit near the end of June to Nebraska football and now, it looks like he’ll be back in Lincoln this weekend.

Daniel Kaelin tweeted about the cookout Nebraska football is having this weekend and that he will be in attendance. We knew that Caleb Benning was going to be on campus too, but according to On3.com, Brix will take an unofficial visit on July 30th, presumably to attend the cookout event put on by Matt Rhule and the coaching staff.

I said this morning that I liked this move by Rhule. All the major programs have a big event on the last unofficial visit weekend before fall camp starts and it’s good to see the Huskers get on board.

What the Grant Brix visit means for Nebraska

In terms of the Brix visit, it means that I’m buying Nebraska football as the favorite to win his commitment.

Kansas State has the lone crystal ball projection. The On3 prediction machine favors the Huskers thanks to an expert projection from Bryan Munson of Husker Online.

That projection came soon after the visit which was promising from a Huskers perspective. There hasn’t been much happening with Brix since, at least from the outside looking in, but Nebraska football is building on its momentum.

If Brix wants to announce before his high school season starts, it seems like this would be a great chance for Nebraska football to close.

Rhule has been exceptional when it comes to closing. Brix was the one recruit not to commit on the June 23rd visit weekend — the same weekend Nebraska eventually landed Carter Nelson, Isaiah McMorris, Dae’vonn Hall, Quinn Clark, and Kewan Lacy.

Now, it looks like the Huskers will get another chance and that’s a very good sign. At the very least it’s a huge opportunity and it’s one Nebraska must take advantage of.
