Nebraska football will be getting another visitor this weekend, as 2025 in-state four-star linebacker Christian Jones will be coming to Lincoln. This was first reported by Allen Trieu of 247Sports.

Jones is the top prospect in the state of Nebraska in the 2025 class, per the 247Sports Rankings. He is the 16th linebacker in the class overall.

Jones has an extensive offer sheet. Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin are the four teams that are in the lead for his services. He was supposed to take a visit to Tennessee this weekend, but there appears to be a change of plans.

There has been movement with Jones on the Nebraska front. He received a Crystal Ball on July 11 that was a medium confidence prediction. It appears as though Nebraska has really established themselves as a key force in his recruitment.

Jones would be a tremendous asset for Nebraska football

Jones is the type of player that would fit well in the Nebraska football defense. He is versatile in the sense that he can play on the edge and as a stand-up linebacker. He has great pursuit ability, and his angles and closing speed are huge parts of his game.

His ability to cover ground quickly, and make plays in all parts of the defensive backfield would benefit Nebraska greatly. The program wants athletes that fit the 3-3-5 defense, and Jones certainly does that. If the Huskers can close on this recruitment, that would be another big recruiting win in-state.

In-state recruiting has been a theme for the 2025 recruiting class. The coaching staff has done a good job of landing impact players early. Jones would be the crown jewel of the in-state class, and give Nebraska football a solid base of talent.

The fact that Jones is visiting Nebraska is a positive sign for the program. There seems to be momentum trending in his direction, and they could use another defensive player for the class. They already have two in Tyson Terry and Caden VerMaas. Jones would be able to make a solid trio.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this visit. Hopefully, Nebraska football will be able to pick up some momentum. At the very least, he is going on campus and getting a chance to interact with the coaching staff. It seems like the staff themselves have done a solid job of being able to make a strong impression in-person.
