Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

Nebraska football is on track to sign its best recruiting class in over 20 years after landing the commitment of four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor on Monday.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound receiver is ranked No. 84 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s the fourth top-100 commitment for head coach Matt Rhule, as well as the 10th blue-chip commitment. The Huskers have nine four-star commitments and one five-star (Trae Taylor).

Khalil Taylor’s commitment moved Nebraska football from 17th in the 247 Sports composite team rankings up to 13th. They might need another pledge, maybe from Ahmad Hudson, to stay there, but this has been an impressive haul with top-100 commits at QB, WR, OL, and S.

Nebraska has also landed three other blue-chip players in the secondary, another on the offensive line, as well as a running back and a defensive lineman.

Taylor runs sub-11 in the 100-meter dash and recorded touchdowns on 45 percent of his receptions over the last two seasons, with over 1,600 total yards in 2025. Some have compared him to Matthew Golden, the 2025 first-round pick of the Green Bay Packers from Texas.

Taylor isn’t a jump-ball threat, but he’s a home-run hitter and the perfect addition to pair with Trae.

Nebraska did miss out on another 2027 recruit on Monday as three-star nickel back Kamauri Whitfield sided with the Florida Gators over Nebraska in the recruitment of the Orlando, Florida, cornerback.

In-state commitment for Nebraska baseball

Baseball recruiting isn’t the focus, but Will Bolt landed one of the top in-state recruits for the 2027 class, Colton Williams, who committed on Monday. The all-state left-handed pitcher was rated as the No. 2 uncommitted prospect from the state of Nebraska by Prep Baseball.

Now, he is committed to the Huskers. Williams throws an 89 MPH fastball and was 6-1 this past season with a 1.07 ERA for Millard West.
