Matt Rhule’s hire of Geep Wade is looking smarter by the day.

Wade hasn’t coached a game for Nebraska football, outside of the bowl game or the spring game, but his impact on the Huskers has already been felt — especially on the recruiting trail.

Last week, Nebraska landed four-star offensive tackle Jordan Agbanoma, the No. 80 recruit overall in the 2027 class. KD Jones, a three-star ranked No. 605 committed last week, too, before the Huskers set off more fireworks on Memorial Day as four-star offensive tackle Timi Aliu committed.

Aliu, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound tackle from Locust Grove, Georgia, is ranked No. 293 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s the fourth offensive line commitment in the 2027 class, but the second-ranked in the top 300 overall.

Wade also added three new starters along the offensive line in the portal, and will get the chance to work with four-star signee Claude Mpouma, who was part of the 2026 class.

Rhule hired Wade to rebuild the Nebraska offensive line, the right way, and he’s off to a great start.

We need to see him develop these players into contributors, because recruiting is only half the battle, especially on the offensive line, but it’s hard not to be impressed with his work in the first five months on the job.

What’s next for Nebraska football 0-line recruiting in 2027

It will be interesting to see where Nebraska goes from here. Albert Simien, the five-star IOL target, would be a take. He’s coming for an official visit. Barrett Kitrell, the in-state offensive tackle, also has an official visit scheduled, as does Kyler Kuhn, who was the top target at center before KD Jones committed.

With the way Geep is making over the O-line room, another commitment wouldn’t be shocking. I’d expect the Huskers to do all they can to land Simien, though, because they have to feel pretty good about this four-man haul. They can put all their eggs in that basket.

Nebraska’s class has 11 commitments total. Seven of them are four-stars or higher (blue chips) and it’s ranked 20th overall via the 247 Sports team rankings.
