4-star offensive tackle to visit Nebraska football, plus more Huskers news

Nebraska football

Nebraska football has recruited offensive tackles hard over the past few classes, but the success has been somewhat limited.

However, in the 2026 recruiting class, there are more highly-touted tackles on the board. One of them is four-star Claude Mpouma, a 6-foot-7, 308-pound offensive tackle out of Chicago. He’s ranked No. 168 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and will take an official visit to Nebraska, according to Allen Trieu of 247 Sports.

Mpouma also has official visits scheduled with Auburn and Florida. Trieu reports that Mpouma will also schedule official visits to Ohio State and Michigan.

For Nebraska football, that means another difficult recruitment to win. The Huskers are also battling with Michigan, Oregon, and USC for four-star tackle Kelvin Obot, the top-ranked player in the state of Idaho. Mike Schaefer of Huskers247 reports that he’s considering an official visit. It seems likely, but it’s hard to know for sure.

Obot is ranked No. 135 overall. He visited Nebraska this spring. So did Mpouma. With the commitment of Trae Taylor, also from the Chicago area, the Huskers could have a slight advantage with Mpouma.

We’ll see, but landing one of these top-200 tackles in the 2026 class (Obot is ranked No. 135) would be huge. Having an elite quarterback room is great, but it doesn’t mean much without great offensive tackles.

Huskers roll into Big Ten semis

Nebraska softball got win No. 39 on Thursday in the Big Ten tournament, with a run-rule victory over Penn State, by the score of 9-1.

Jordy Bahl got the win in the circle. She pitched all five innings and allowed one run on two hits. She also struck out nine Nittany Lions in the win.

Ava Kuszak had a walk-off RBI for the second straight game in addition to drawing three walks. Ava Bredwell was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

The Huskers will face second-seeded UCLA on Friday at 4 PM CST on the Big Ten Network. Top-seeded Oregon was knocked out in the quarterfinals on Friday by eighth-seeded Michigan, which will play 12th-seeded Purdue for a spot in the Big Ten title game.

Win two games, and who knows, maybe the Huskers will get some consideration for hosting a regional.

The Nebraska baseball team also has an important three-game series against the Michigan Wolverines at home. Nebraska dropped below .500, following the loss to Creighton. They need to win at least this series and the next to keep any hope of an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament alive.

Michigan is also on the bubble, so two or even three wins this weekend would go a long way.  The first game is on Friday at 6 PM CST. Tucker Timmerman will get the ball, followed by Ty Horn on Saturday, and Jackson Brockett on Sunday.
