Nebraska basketball had a historic season in 2025-26. The Huskers won their first NCAA Tournament game and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time.

It was an incredible run, one that Nebraska basketball fans will never forget.

With Fred Hoiberg at the helm, there is no reason Nebraska can’t capitalize on this momentum. Hoiberg said he “felt good” about roster retention earlier this week, at least among the top players.

Hoiberg is talking about Pryce Sandfort as if he will be on the team next season. Braden Frager is also expected back. No major departures are expected, although you can never say never.

On the women’s basketball side of things, there have been some transfers; however, star guard Britt Price, an All-Big Ten selection last season, confirmed her return on social media, along with Allison Weidner.

Logan Nissley and Kennadi Williams have also confirmed their returns for next season. Natalie Potts will be back too, after missing the past two seasons due to injury.

While there haven’t been a ton of targets emerging for the Nebraska men’s or women’s team so far, there have been some departures. Here’s what we know so far, in terms of who’s coming, who’s going, and who is staying.

Huskers suffer first big loss

Berke Büyüktuncel, who stared 61 games over the past two seasons, has entered the transfer portal. He scored 6.5 points and averaged 5.6 rebounds, while leading the team with blocked shots. The 6-foot-10 forward was Nebraska’s best interior defender.

Nebraska’s first commitment

Fred Hoiberg landed an All-Conference player from the Missouri Valley, just like he did with Rienk Mast. Sam Orme will play in the frontcourt for the Huskers. He’s a stellar 3-point shooter and had 25 dunks last season. He can put the ball on the floor, too.

Braden Frager is back

Nebraska posted that Frager, the Big Ten’s Sixth Man of the Year, will be back. That’s the best news of the offseason so far.
