Nebraska football has been crowned as an offseason champion once again, after landing five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola and landing some key additions in the transfer portal.
The Huskers were also able to retain some key players on their own roster who could have easily entered the NFL draft such as Nash Hutmacher, Ty Robinson, and Isaac Gifford. Ben Scott is another.
However, we have heard talk like this before. There was chatter about ending the bowl drought and winning the Big Ten West when Adrian Martinez was the quarterback. Now, you have people like Joel Klatt and Andy Staples saying Nebraska football could start 7-0, even if it does sound totally realistic — the Huskers need to prove it.
Matt Rhule even said it a few weeks ago — it’s time to win.

I’ve laid out why I believe this Nebraska football team will make a bowl game. Raiola is a big part of that. The defense is too, along with maybe the best group of pass-catchers the Huskers have ever had.
The defensive line is stellar too, and I have confidence in the offensive line, even though I’m concerned about Turner Corcoran at left tackle. There aren’t as many roster questions as last season and the depth is real.
Nebraska football updated bowl projection
CBS Sports is buying an improvement from Nebraska football this season and is projecting the Huskers to play LSU in the Music City Bowl in Nashville. Ironically, the last time Nebraska was in a bowl game, it was against Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.
I’d love to see Nebraska win 9-10 games and make a playoff push, but a winning season is the minimum goal for the 2024 season and according to CBS Sports, the Huskers will meet that goal.
