CFB Analyst predicts Nebraska football to start 7-0

There is a lot of optimism surrounding Nebraska football right now and for once, it’s not just limited to Cornhusker fans.

We have talked about this before, but the national media is really drinking the Matt Rhule Kool-Aid — the Nebraska football Kool-Aid.

Multiple analysts have talked about how the Huskers could start the season 7-0 and on Tuesday, Andy Staples of On3.com took it a step further, making that a bold prediction of his for the 2024 season.

“Nebraska will be 7-0 entering the Ohio State game. It’s probably Dylan Raiola starting at quarterback. But, the reality is Tony white’s defense is going to be the star at Nebraska. Nash Hutcmatcher. Those guys are going to be the ones relied on to win those games. Dylan Raiola has to be good but he doesn’t have to be Superman to make this work.”

Staples talks about the turnover issue from last season. Turnovers have plagued Nebraska for years and if Dylan Raiola can just take care of the ball and be efficient, the Huskers should easily make a bowl game.

Starting 7-0 will require beating Colorado. Five of the first seven games are at home, although the road games at Indiana and Purdue won’t be easy. Colorado is at home though. That will be a battle and the rest of the Big Ten is filled with teams capable of beating you every week.

The defense should carry the day though and if Raiola is better than just average — if he’s good — this team might be a College Football Playoff contender next season.
