There were two notable developments recently for Nebraska football on the recruiting trail.

Nebraska football recently offered four-star linebacker Tate Wallace, who is from Iowa. He’s talking about an official visit, and less than a week after he was offered, the Huskers made his top six. Minnesota, Notre Dame, Arizona State, Arizona, and Wisconsin were also on the list. He visited multiple teams on that list during the past month.

Nebraska’s offer has made a real impact, though. Ranked 357th overall, Wallace projects as a 3-4 outside linebacker, according to 247 Sports. That makes him an interesting fit for Nebraska. Either the Huskers see the 6-foot-2, 226-pounder as an EDGE, or an off-ball linebacker, who can also pressure the quarterback.

The size doesn’t necessarily equate to an EDGE in Nebraska’s system. Either way, it sounds like a visit should be happening soon. Neither Iowa or Iowa State offered Wallace a scholarship.

One of Nebraska’s commitments in the 2027 class, three-star wideout Kaden Howard, continues to flirt with UCF and former Huskers head coach Scott Frost.

Frost offered not long after Howard’s commitment. He took an unofficial visit to the Knights soon after. Howard also visited Miami, but said he was “locked in” during an in-home visit with Nebraska coaches.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Howard has now scheduled an official visit with UCF. The Huskers will host Howard for an official visit on June 12th. The Knights will host him the next weekend (June 19th).

Howard is listed by On3 as 5-foot-10, 145 pounds. 247 Sports has him at 160. He’s ranked 704th overall via the Rivals Industry rankings and runs the 100-meter dash in 10.6. That’s the kind of speed you can’t coach.

That’s why Nebraska football wants him in the class. But Frost does, too, which has created an interesting recruiting battle heading into June.
