Nebraska football has been busy on the recruiting trail as of late, wrapping up a solid month of June. Their work may not be done as we begin July, and they reportedly still have a spot for a corner that they are recruiting.
Corner Amare Sanders visited the program in June, and liked what he saw. Sanders has a growing offer sheet that includes the likes of Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and Miami. He is currently a three-star recruit and plays at Gulliver Prep in Miami.
Sanders reportedly want to take visits during the dead timeframe in July as noted by Husker247’s Mike Schaefer.
The Nebraska football coaching staff reportedly still talks to him almost every day. He is talking the most with secondaries coach Evan Cooper.
Cooper has done a good job of recruiting this cycle. He was the primary recruiter for Cameron Lenhardt, Roger Gradney and Mario Buford. He also was able to help land wide receiver Demetrius Bell. Cooper certainly has done his fair share of work on the recruiting trail this point.
What could he bring to Nebraska football?
Sanders is an intriguing prospect, as he recorded 49 tackles, seven pass breakups, and two interceptions in eight games last season. He measures in at six-foot-one, 162 pounds. He comes from a family of athletes, as his brother Tony Sanders plays basketball at Notre Dame. The younger Sanders also plays basketball. He averaged 11.1 points per game as a sophomore.
The basketball part is especially intriguing as two-sport athletes often present a tremendous amount of athleticism. Not only that, it helps athletes stay in shape for their respective sports. A two-sport athlete is certainly good to have.
The Florida pipeline is one where Nebraska football will look to really make an impact. They already have a Florida commitment in linebacker Willis McGahee IV. Now, they’ll be looking to add a second commitment to the class from the state.
It will be interesting to see where this recruitment goes, as Nebraska continues to try and add kids from Florida. It sounds as though they are not done with the 2024 class, and Sanders would be a solid get.
