Then there were two, at least in the recruitment of five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson, as the elite prospect is down to Nebraska football and LSU.

The 6-foot-5, 239-pound tight end is ranked 18th overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Hudson formed a tight bond with Nebraska QB commit Trae Taylor last summer, and that’s one reason the Huskers are in the thick of things.

Recently, Hudson trimmed his list down to three: USC, Nebraska, and LSU. Hudson is from Ruston, Louisiana, so the Tigers have a built-in advantage. They also seem to grab momentum since the hiring of Lane Kiffin.

Hudson updated his recruitment on Tuesday. He’s now down to Nebraska and LSU, with a decision expected to come after official visits to both program. Bryan Munson of Husker Online maintains that Nebraska football is “in the lead.”

Hudson has said that before. We’ll see what that means on the day of his commitment. Both programs are offering the chance to play basketball. Historically, it’s been very difficult to pull away elite players in Louisiana away from LSU.

Nebraska has a puncher’s chance, but it’s hard to see LSU losing out there.

A new 2027 projection for Nebraska football recruiting

Jailen Hill is one of the top cornerbacks in the 2027 recruiting class, and the Huskers are trending up in a big way in his recruitment.

Hill, a 6-foot-3, 160-pound corner out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California, recently visited Nebraska football. He’s also got an official visit scheduled for the first week of June.

Hill visited back in November as well. He also took a trip to Purdue this spring, but the Huskers feel like the frontrunner, to the point that Mike Singer, who covers Notre Dame for Rivals, put in a projection for the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine for Nebraska to land Hill, who is ranked No. 217 overall via the Rivals Industry Rankings, and 25th among cornerbacks.

Singer only put the confidence of his pick at 25 percent. He’s the only expert to do so, but it’s still a sign that the Huskers are the team to beat with the blue-chip cornerback.
